I don't know why he quoted Winston Churchill's 'fight them on the beaches' speech. It's completely irrelevant to the situation in Somalia. Churchill was referring to a Nazi invasion and occupation of Britain, in that the British would never stop resisting the Nazis on British soil.
The author says "well this shows that if you kill a few of our guys we'll give up and go home", in relation to the speech. Clearly then it's a completely stupid comparison to draw because not only would the British not be able to 'go home' because they would already BE at home, but also the troops involved in Mogadishu were American, not British.
What he really should have said was "this shows that if you kill a few Americans then the US army will pack up and go home", as it is completely and utterly stupid to make a comparison between the British, Winston Churchills speech, and the American involvement in Somalia.
